Are Apple Airpods Worth The Money?

At first I thought Apple’s Airpods were a complete waste of money. I wondered who in their right mind would spend more than $150 on a pair of wireless earbuds. Well, turns out around 60 million people did so in 2019. Surprisingly, that includes me, too.

I gave in and shelled out “big” bucks for Apple’s wireless Airpods. Within a matter of weeks, my mindset shifted and I was glad I had made the purchase. The portability, connectivity and accessibility are factors you don’t consider until they are part of your life.

If you don’t yet own a pair of Airpods yet, you’re probably wondering, should I take the plunge and buy them?

Here’s a few reasons why I’m not looking back on my purchase:

    Connectivity

To reap the benefits of Airpods’ connectivity, it’s best if you have an iPhone versus an Android phone. The Airpods automatically connect to the iPhone when they are removed from their case and go into your ears. This makes it so easy to quickly take phone calls with Airpods.

To disconnect, simply take them out and put them back in the case.

Pairing the buds with an iPaid or Macbook is also very simple.

I love how audio also pauses when you remove the Airpods from your ears. It makes it easy to pick back up where you left off.

    Sound Quality

Sound nerds will probably tell you that the Airpods sound like garbage. Stacked up against a high-end pair of headphones, that’s probably true. But as someone who simply enjoys music, listening to podcasts and making phone calls, any claim that the Airpods sound trashy is far from the truth. I enjoy the sound. I have seen people complain about the audio quality over Zoom, though I have not tested this myself.

    On-Screen Controls

One thing I love about the Airpods is having control over the volume on my iPhone. The on-screen display also tells you the remaining battery left in each Airpod and the case. There are also options to share the music with other Airpod users, so you don’t need to lend your friend a bud (unless they don’t have Airpods, of course).

So, that leads us back to the question – are Airpods worth it? I really do think it comes down to whether you are an iPhone user or own other Apple devices. These headphones were made to work best with Apple products. You’ll get a better experience that will feel worth your while.
